5 redenen waarom AR zoveel potentie heeft

Augmented Reality. Je hoort er veel over en waarschijnlijk heb je het al eens gezien. Het wordt dan ook steeds populairder, maar waarom eigenlijk? Er wordt flink geëxperimenteerd met AR en in dit artikel vertellen we je waarom. AR heeft namelijk behoorlijk wat potentie.

  1. Winkelen wordt een avontuur

AR geeft winkelen een geheel nieuwe dimensie. Klanten gaan tegenwoordig het liefst niet meer naar de winkel. Online winkelen is immers veel makkelijker. Veel mensen lopen er echter wel tegenaan dat ze de beleving van het shoppen missen. Deze beleving kan worden gecreeërd door middel van Augmented Reality. Zo kunnen klanten bijvoorbeeld online brillen passen, meubels in hun woonkamer plaatsen en auto’s van binnen en buiten bekijken. 

  1. De technologie is vol in ontwikkeling

AR is een relatief nieuwe techniek en hoewel er al veel bereikt is op het gebied van Augmented Reality, kan er nog veel meer ontwikkeld worden. De technologie wordt echt met de dag beter, waardoor de AR projecties ook van kwaliteit steeds beter worden. Er zijn steeds meer dingen mogelijk en het is dan ook helemaal geen gek idee om eens te kijken wat AR voor jou kan betekenen.

Daarbij wordt het maken van Augmented Reality apps erg toegankelijk. Nog even en iedereen kan gemakkelijk zijn eigen AR app maken. De eerste stap is al gemaakt door Snapchat en Instagram. Zo kun je bijvoorbeeld ook zelf een filter maken voor Instagram en snapchat. Er zijn ook een hoop bedrijven die AR games en apps voor je kunnen maken, denk bijvoorbeeld aan StickyLock.

  1. Iedereen heeft een telefoon

AR gebeurd veelal via de telefoon. Denk aan Snapchat of Pokémon Go. Deze apps maken gebruik van de camera van de telefoon en projecteren zo AR beelden via het scherm in de echte wereld. Vrijwel iedereen heeft tegenwoordig een smartphone en dat zorgt ervoor dat het gemakkelijk is om nieuwe Augmented Reality technieken te lanceren en te gebruiken. 

  1. Oneindig veel toepassingen

Er zijn oneindig veel toepassingen voor Augmented Reality. Zo hadden we het hierboven al even over de mogelijkheden in de retail sector, maar je kunt ook denken aan tours via AR waarbij de route wordt aangegeven door middel van bepaalde locatiepunten op je telefoon. Ook musea maken handig gebruik van AR. Zo kun je vaak QR codes scannen bij kunstwerken, waardoor bezoekers meer informatie over de kunst, of andere leuke dingen, kunnen ontdekken.

  1. AR is populair

Eén belangrijke reden waarom AR de toekomst heeft, is omdat het enorm populair is onder de jeugd. Kinderen kiezen massaal voor spellen en producten met AR. Het is een leuke, interactieve manier om te spelen en ook te leren. Volgens statistieken maken meer dan de helft van de gedownloade spellen in de Apple App Store gebruik van Augmented Reality. Ook voor scholen is dit een goede optie, met AR hebben kinderen namelijk niet het gevoel dat ze echt iets aan het leren zijn. Ze vinden het leuk en interessant, waardoor ze makkelijk dingen opslaan.
